ISS School Contacts over NYC Tuesday and California Thursday

Tuesday NYC Contact

On Tuesday at 11:09 A.M. Eastern (16:09 UTC) the International Space Station (ISS) will be talking to  students at the Atlanta Science Festival in Atlanta, Georgia through a telebridge station in Maryland. The ISS will actually be 89 degrees, nearly directly overhead, New York City, and the astronaut side of the conversation will be receivable on 145.80 MHz FM.

The contact will take place based on the pass timings for the telebridge station (K6DUE) in Maryland, though:

The overlap is almost complete. For the telebridge station the pass starts at 11:09:21  and ends at 11:20:00. For New York it starts at 11:09:33 and ends at 11:20:17.

As you can see from the ground track image above, the coverage is much greater than Maryland or NYC, so it’s worth trying to hear the ISS if you’re on the eastern side of North America.
